It's only been a few hours, and wow it spreads like aa virus,

And they post their spamming junk IN EVERY AREA!

What the hell,all this spam...

I know the boards haven't been quite active in a while but maybe we could use a couple more moderators to take care of the spammers,I'm just saying.

I'd just say give all the regs a status update so we can at least get rid of junk like this.  There are only like, 5 active members here, and we've known eachother for years anyway, so it's not like we're gonna go mod crazy on eachother, haha.

Holy crap, guys. I have no idea how this got so out of control. I'm going to remove everything that's up as of now.

The thing is, a few days ago when I visited it looked like one of the other admins had turned on moderated registrations, because it said I had registrations to approve (which I had never seen before). If they are still getting in when registration itself is moderated, I'm not sure what else to do. Especially when spammers are pretty obvious, I don't think other mods/admins would have gone around approving them (I denied both of the requests that I saw).

Maybe I'll see about disabling registration altogether, at least temporarily. Additional measures might be taken from there, if that doesn't help. Maybe this has something to do with the crazy amounts of registrations we had from lurker accounts over last summer? If necessary maybe we could purge accounts with no posts.

I don't know, but I'll look into some things.

EDIT: Okay, I've gotten rid of all of the spam as of now, fully banned all of the accounts involved, and disabled registration for the time being. If anyone needs help with registering a new account, they can contact me or another admin and it can be done directly through us... but I don't really see that being a concern.

Phew, glad that's taken care of.

Taken care of. That account was registered on the 17th, before registration was closed, I think.  Hopefully, most of the accounts that will spam in the future are banned now...

I'm going to tentatively try turning registration back on. All new registrations will require admin approval. If it ends up being a constant stream of spam registrations with no legit people, we might turn it back off, but I feel bad that there might be actual people trying to register.
