Hoshii, Hoshiko, Kanako, Kana-chan, the lady that goes DAKISHIMETEEEEEEEEEEEE in Inferno... well, you have an idea who she is! She's considered by the Japanese fanbase to be IIDX's "dedicated vocalist" (just like how Reiji Sakurai is pop'n's) as many of her songs were released first as short versions on IIDX.

Kanako currently has one minialbum out - EIGHT ELEMENTS OF THE STAR and has a variety of songs on the Konami Music Full cellphone download service called the 'Another Sense' edition songs. More recently, she's been appearing on Guitarfreaks Drummania (Day's! in V3, 太陽~T・A・I・Y・O~(ANOTHER SENSE EDITION) on V4) and on pop'n music (Just 晴香-Haruka- for the moment). Aside from being known for consistently good vocal work, she has been known for her producer's habits of making her have extremely long 'E's. For example: Inferno has her infamous DAKISHIMETEEEEEEEEEEEE while SPARK! has MAIAGAREEEEEEEEEEEEE.

I like her (contrary to popular belief that I don't), even if I think that sometimes she can get very annoying. I do think she's cute though and my favourite songs by her are リグレット, 太陽~T・A・I・Y・O~, inferno (if only for the video), 星をこの手に and more recently MAX LOVE.

I totally adore Kanako! I wasn't too impressed with her DJT offerings, but I still maintain that EEOTS is one of the greatest Bemani albums ever, putting it in the same league as milestone and BeForU.

Kanako is one of the best of Bemani.  I love every single song from EEOTS and ANOTHER SENSE.

Recently her work seems to be going downhill a bit.. Kick Out 仮面 is kinda bland, and I never really took to HARUKA or Endless Summer Story (which sound a bit too similar.)  MAX LOVE is good, though.  Smiley

I noticed the similarity between the two as well.  It's odd that I love Endless Summer Story but I could do without HARUKA.  I guess I like the instrumentation and tempo of ESS better.   Huh?
When we first got the audio of Kick Out Kamen and MAX LOVE, I took to them quickly, but the magic also faded quickly.  I might add that MAX LOVE was the #1 song purchased on KONAMI Music Full for a week, and then dropped rather rapidly.  Sans DJT and HARUKA, Kanako is absolutely wonderful.  I keep my EEOTS disc right next to BeForU II, teranoid overground KOJA YUKINO and milestone.  Smiley

Oh yeah.  EETOS is seriously completely awesome.  I love every song on it.  I wish they had released physical CDs of the ANOTHER SENSE songs, as I somehow loved every one of those even more than the original versions.

I was thinking about something, though.  I'm really drawn to all her songs, but is it only because of the songs themselves?  Seriously, I think a lot of them would sound better with, say, Ayane/Junko Hirata. (Gekkou ver0.99!   Grin)  Yoshitaka and the other musicians did such a great job with every song that I think I might mostly be won over by the music.  I do love Hoshi's voice, but I could probably listen to these songs with Erika Mochizuki singing them and still like them.  (And for those of you who don't know, I'm not a big fan of hers  Tongue)

P.S. I think part of these thoughts may come from my recent obsession with Ayane.  I listen to her too much  Tongue

And wow, after looking at discogs I noticed that Ayane wrote 3 of the 8 songs from EEOTS.   Shocked

Basically the Tatsh songs have Junko Hirata writing the lyrics for them (Except Tashikanamono). Eight Elements of the Star is a very good album in terms of Bemani albums, very solidly produced.

Though interestingly enough, if you play 星をこの手に on IIDX, the led display reads "NINE ELEMENTS OF THE STAR" which I found amusing and only noticed when I played the DJ Yoshitaka course on IIDX (GHOSTBUSTERS, CaptivAte〜裁き〜, High School Love, 星をこの手に and VANESSA).  Then you have Kanako Hoshino's alternate course which is titled "FIVE ELEMENTS OF THE STAR" (D.A.N.C.E.!, 太陽〜T・A・I・Y・O〜, リグレット, 星をこの手に and never..., thank god no inferno otherwise I might as well say good bye to clearing this course with 100%.)

There also seems to be this endless remembrance of 'hoshi' and star' as well (Coming from Hoshino/星野, of course. The kanji means 'star field' and Kanako's whole name means 'the musician's child in a star field' at least roughly, sounds way better than my name anyway.) I actually find it rather amusing, actually.

As usual, I have no way of replying to those awesome kanna posts except with an envious "thank you".  Cheesy

In the chat today, there was an interesting discussion about everybody's favourite Kanako Hoshino songs from EEOTS. Would anybody be interested in an EEOTS Elimination game like the BeForU albums one?  Cheesy Just throwing the idea out there, though I imagine this would be a very hard album to eliminate favourites from.

Thats an awesome idea, but personally it would be difficult for me to eliminate songs. (EEOTS is really good) After that we should have EEOTS Another Sense elimination also.

Only problem with that is that not many people might not have heard the Another Sense songs. And yes, I see what you mean about how it gets harder to eliminate songs. For me, it would get harder for me to eliminate songs once the two songs I dislike are gone. (Though the task can be made relatively easier by *cough* a certain composer.)

Personally, it'd only get hard for the once the ANOTHER SENSE versions were gone. I mean, they were alright, but none of them really managed to measure up to their EEOTS counterparts, IMO.

So, I got bored in the middle of the night and decided to try and look for inferno's full version lyrics ( I need to hold out until May to get the real thing. ;~; ) I had completely forgotten about this: http://www.konami.jp/am/bm2dx/bm2dx13/song/inferno.html

In true Yoshitaka and Tomosuke fashion, the origins of this song are completely random. Over coffee, Tomosuke told Yoshitaka how much he loved Brazil (a "great love for brazil") and while Yoshitaka was pondering why it was 9 parts milk in his cafe au lait. (Tomosuke didn't have this problem, he had an expresso.) So they thought, why not compose a song with Brazilian influence?

Now, forgive me for skipping past the song info and looking more at what the video designer had to say about making the video if inferno. Basically the concept of the video got distilled down in to three ideas:

"There is a sofa."
"Hoshino-san is seated in the middle of these three people"
"All three are dressed fashionably"

The concept colours were black, white and Kanako Hoshino's deep crimson dress. (They were aiming for a "cute mature look") and uhh... apparently the low angle shots of Caldeira (Yoshitaka and Tomosuke) were intentional, for all the Caldeira fans out there (thank you matsushima, thank you. You have made fans like me happy.)

So yes, little info for you while I go hunting for full version lyrics. ;~;
