apparently the Bemani auditions wasn't Kanako's first audition to be in the music biz. check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UWanJQrfTV8 BEWARE 90% of these girls sing horribly!! It appears that she auditioned for DREAM(?) in this 2000 Avex competition. She's contestant no. 13 (how lucky  ) In my opinion she sounded better than Koda Kumi here. Koda hit that high note pretty bad. But overall she came in second and didn't get to join that group. Sadly Kanako didn't place, I'm kinda glad she didn't because she wouldn't be with Bemani!  |

She goes by 渡辺 in that audition. Is that her real name? Watanabe?
Edit: Nevermind, the Japanese wiki already says that's her name. XD

Yes, Kanako Hoshino's real name is Kanako Watanabe. And oh my god, she sang one of my favourite Aikawa Nanase songs. But that's definitely her. It sounds like her. That's our Hoshiko. But I have to admit, I thank Konami for giving her vocal training of some sort, seriously.

I'm seconding that. I'm sorry to say that she really didn't sound that great back then. Why they decided to show a part where she completely missed a few notes is beyond me (Koda Kumi's high note was at least somewhat in tune). But whatever, what matters is that Kanako is good now  . |

I want that DVD because it's got Yoshitaka and Michael a la mode live, nothing quite beats the awesomeness of this ENGRISH SPOUTING MAN CALLED MICHAEL A LA MODE LIVE SINGING ABOUT MENU MAKING LIIIIIIVE (And Yoshikun DJing live, of course. With Tomo-chin. I can't wait to hear the arrangements). Which is the reason why I'm getting this DVD.  But back to Kanako. She needs another album and she needs to stop releasing freaking cellphone only songs. Well, at least太陽〜T•A•I•Y•O〜 another sense's short version was put on an OST... |
