Just my opinion, but... looking at the forums, it seems like people are discussing smile.dk and Captain Jack more than they are Reiji Sakurai. Their threads are a lot longer, and they're still a pretty iconic/well-known part of bemani (at least DDR, I don't know about the other games) even if they're licensed. In my personal opinion, if he should replace anybody it should be Asaki since his isn't actually a photo.
But that's the thing, nobody's ever going to 100% agree on who "should" be up there, and it seems like it's creating a lot of work for snow unnecessarily.
Not that there's anything wrong with asking of course. But I personally don't want to see smile.dk or Captain Jack go. ;~;
This exactly. Just because we're a Bemani+BeForU board doesn't mean that we focus
soley on those two if for a looong time Dancemania and licensed artists were a big part of DDR, which helped propel the popularity of Bemani as a whole due to their inclusion. That, and I'm sure most people would be more likely to sing Dream a Dream or Butterfly rather than Venus. We're trying to reach out to a lot of people, so we have to try and cater to people who liked licensed artists and not just appeal to the same group of people. I mean, by your definition to soley Bemani artists, we should be taking out Koja Yukino, Erika Mochizuki, the Cover Girls and Tatsh because they're not strictly Bemani. (On the Koja note, she really should stay. She's doing a lot of work before her proper debut.)
