I'm not sure I'm thinking its going to be its own thing. It sounds like it is the first time Heihachi is having the king of iron fist touranment. Something confuses me though, having Xiaoyu, Christie, raven, and lots of newer characters would mean it takes place sometime after tekken 3 which was 19 years after tekken 2, how ever Jun is in the movie and she is abucted by ogre shortly before tekken 3. She must just be in jin's flash backs Because if they make her a fighter there really messing with the storyline of the tekken sereis.

From Wiki:

Plot

The leader of a highly corrupt business under investigation of murder, Heihachi Mishima, suspiciously announces a tournament to crown a "King Of Iron Fist" whereby the winner will be made his personal bodyguard and will have riches and fame laid upon them. However, the tournament is not all it seems, as all of the contestants seem to have their own individual agendas to get close to the man looking to employ them. Consequently, a group of elite fighters, undercover police and assassins team together in the hope of uncovering the truth but slowly realize they are in fact linked together through more than just their goal of killing Mishima.

Yeah, I'm not going to lie.  While being a somewhat avid Tekken player, I can't say I'm very optimistic about this movie.  Movies based on fighting games had a pretty poor track record from what I can remember.

I thought mortal Kombat was good, and even DOA was a little decent. Noria

Oh dear lawdy no.  Say no to a Soul Calibur movie.  Hahah, it would be hilarious to see them try it though.
One Soul Calibur thing I DO want: Soul Calibur for PSP

In fact, I'm pretty much against any fighting game becoming a movie.  They usually wind up quite cheesy.
